Recorded, Mixed & Produced at Sabi Sound
“Eric, your work on this album is beyond beautiful. So nuanced, so much tenderness to detail, it’s palpable. I am thoroughly blessed to know you as my friend and collaborator.”
—Mary Esther Carter
Mary Esther Carter is a singular artist who’s voice and performance draws you in as a listener. I worked on a couple of tracks on her debut record, and for the follow-up, she wanted to work with me at Sabi Sound.
After a fruitful pre-production, we tracked the record live, using several guitars available here at the studio, and added most of the overdubs here as well.
The mixing process was all about space and restraint and was partly shared with Mildred Moody, who took the lead on a few of the album’s tracks.
“Man, the mixes straight up crush, bangers all the way. “
—The Leatherbound Books
Leaving their folksy roots behind, The Leatherbound Books crank up the distortion on supernormal. Snarly guitar hooks, thundering drums provide the backdrop for Jackie’s often sarcastic lyrics about teenage angst.
The band says these tunes are “perfect for a solo lap at your local roller rink or a ride in the back of a mid-90s station wagon.”
True to their pop-punk ethos, the band DIY recorded the album and I had about a week to mix and master.
“Eric’s mixes made my songs come alive. It was like they were in black and white and he transformed them into full color.”
—Matt Bushlow a.k.a. Sulk Fangs
I’ve worked with Matt Bushlow, a.k.a. Sulk Fangs, on his last two albums and we’ve started pre-production on a third.
Matt’s clear vision for these albums has made my job easy. I’ve essentially been sculpting his pre-mixes, making them bigger, wider, and more balanced and spacious. We tracked a few overdubs here at the studio, including some guitars I added on a couple of tracks.
From a review, “When Bushlow pushes the indie folk button, as he does with “Come Around,” sparks fly.”
Forevergreen is a five-episode streaming concert experience from Vermont. Sabi Sound did the location recording and mixing for each episode’s opening segment, which included Neko Case inside the Jay Peak Tram, Grace Potter at Mad River Glen, Twiddle in Killington, Noah Kahan at Trapps Family Lodge, and Guster’s Ryan Miller in Stratton.
Psychedelic rock trio Quiltro’s debut album is here! The album was recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Eric Segalstad at Sabi Sound. Mastered at Blackler Mastering. Look out for the vinyl, which was pressed locally at the Burlington Record Plant.
“Quiltro is quite simply excellent modern psych rock,” read one review and the album was included on a list of Vermont’s top albums from 2020.
We’re so excited to let this album out in the world! I’ve collaborated with Scott Mangan (aka Mildred Moody) for a decade and this one has been a true labor of love. I’m really proud of how it turned out and make no mistake, this is his album. My credits differ track by track and includes playing various guitars, synths, and programming, engineering, co-mixing, co-producing, and mastering at here at Sabi Sound.

Ben Mayock had some very specific ideas for this concept album and we set to work together at Sabi Sound. We sought out evocative sounds and textures that blended well with the field recordings and the general concept of ambience, bliss, journey, and introspection.
Ben Werlin and Cole Elwood’s acoustic guitars weave a beautiful tapestry. Recorded live with percussion support from Joe Adler on a couple of tracks. Engineered, mixed, and mastered at Sabi Sound.
